President’s Message about the Earthquake Help Campaign

On Sunday, October 23, 2011 a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit the eastern part of Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the province of Van, impacting the provincial capital Van, and nearby towns. The biggest impact was in Ercis a town with a population of around 75 thousand.

Right after the earthquake happened, the initial news was that it only impacted a few dozen buildings. However, as time passed, we learnt that the reality was far more disastrous than that. In fact, as of Thursday, October twenty seven, 576 people were killed, 2.608 people were injured, and 187 people are rescued.

We would like to thank the people of Corpus Christi and the community leaders for sharing their feelings and also making donations for the helping hands campaign which organized by Raindrop Turkish House. We also would like to thank the KIII TV and Channel 6 for supporting our campaign and making news about the earthquake in Turkey on their headline news. Raindrop Turkish House El Paso announces help for Turkish Quake on TV

telemundo_2 Telemundo TV station broadcasting in El Paso Texas, Juarez Chihuahua (Mexico), and Las Cruzes New Mexico visited  Raindrop Turkish House El Paso to have a friendly heart-to-heart talk about Turkish Quake happened at 1:41 pm (5:41 pm) on Sunday, October 23, 2011. El Paso Raindrop Turkish House director Riza Gurlek expressed how badly hurt by the earthquake and announces the help campaign organized by Raindrop Turkish House.
